Class Today in Review (For those sickies who missed!)

Hey Steph and Nicole (and Britta...although I already emailed you this).

So I think you three were the only ones who missed today. I already emailed Britta this, but I'll post it to the blog and email you both as to let you know what happened in class (cuz I know it sucks when you miss and you don't want to get behind).

So class today. I got the book all turned in with all the pages and she's
expecting to send it to print on Wednesday so we can see the first copy
asap. She started to introduce the next project. If you look at the blog,
you can see the due dates and some project specs.

The new project is designing a brochure for her mom (Dr. Liz
Murray-Marshall) and the university she works at. The two different
categories are either biotechnology or bio manufacturing. So half the class
has one topic and half the class has another. And then within each group
some of the people are targeting students and some are targeting parents.
If that doesn't make sense give me a call and I can explain it further. She
said all those people who missed class today will find out what assignment
they get next Wednesday.

For Wednesday we're supposed to draw up 5 different layout ideas (pencil
quality) of how you would present the brochure. Each different layout idea
needs a front design and back design. Also on Wednesday we're going to have
a skype call with Dr. Murray about what she wants and everything (we're
supposed to consider her our client).

When the project is all done we're going to send the brochures over to the
university and they're going to choose two (one biotech. and one biomanu.)
to put into production so keep cost into consideration. Something totally
elaborate might be visually pleasing but might not be chosen because of
cost.

After she introduced the project today, she had one of her friends come in
to talk to the class. Her name is Erika R.. (I forgot to write it down, you
can probably get it from Ursula Wednesday) and she's a photographer. She
showed us some of her work and then we talked with her about dealing with
difficult clients and about how to get what you want out of a customer.

When Erika was there, we split into our brochure groups (biotech. or
biomanu.) and talked about what we wanted to ask Dr. Murray for
(photo-wise). Oh yeah, also included on the new class blog post was a link
to photos that Dr. Murray has already provided for us. In our groups we
looked at those a little bit and talked about what else we needed to make a
successful brochure.

So I know this might be very overwhelming, but I hope it helps. If you guys have questions just let us know. Hope you all feel better!

Hey Pod
